About Me

My love of the outdoors, horticulture and design began as a young girl while growing on a farm in New Jersey.  One of my earliest garden experiences was growing button zinnias arranged in a small flower arrangement for a contest at the Warren County Farmers Fair in Warren County, New Jersey.  This was encouraged by my mother, Anna Mae, who has been a member of the Warren County Garden Club for over 45 years.  She has been a tremendous influence on my love of landscapes and design.  I’ve been to many, many gardens, garden programs, museums, nurseries and parks tripping and tagging along on her excursions.   My joint major in Art and Communications Arts at Allegheny College in Pennsylvania led me to a career in advertising.  After moving many times and finally settling in Portland, I shifted careers and combined my love of design with the outdoors and focused on Landscape Design.  I have taken classes in horticulture and landscape design at Clackamas Community College and Portland Community College Rock Creek Campus.  My husband and two children moan every Mother’s Day as I never want to go out to brunch.   My family day usually involves compost and the garden.
